ARM Holdings latest chip will transform smartphones, making them five times more powerful, the manufacturer claims. Ian Drew, ARM’s marketing director, said the new Cortex A15 chip, code named Eagle, would allow smartphones to deliver ‘five times better content and five times better performance.
He said the chip would allow developers to design a new generation of applications, adding, ‘It will be like carrying a computer around in your pocket, but it will only be the size of a phone and will have the battery life to last all day. ARM has signed initial agreements with Texas Instruments, ST-Ericsson and Samsung so far.
